My friend Leah and I recently launched a business specializing in pie called Livin’ The Pie Life. I love pie. Everybody loves pie. And I am happy to report that we are producing fantastic pies for those lucky enough to live in Northern Virginia.
But Heather, you might be thinking, this is a post about cake. Pourquoi?
Well…..Even though our pies are delicious and popular, sometimes people still want cake. My theory is that people crave frosting. Much as everyone loves pie, everyone also loves frosting. In fact, we are currently working on a frosted pie. Think I’m crazy? Perhaps. Or perhaps I am a freakin’ genius!
But I digress. Cupcakes are the subject at hand and I do make a mean one. I made these for a bookclub/dinner party, but this bit of sin in a paper wrapper works for any kind of celebration…a birthday, a wedding…Tuesday.
Speaking of weddings, however, apparently some brides are turning away from traditional cakes and leaning toward fresh delicious flaky pie. Check out our Livin’ The Pie Life Facebook Page to see what Leah and I have come up with to meet that need. Piecup anyone?
But in the meantime, here is a sweet little cupcake.
The chocolate cake comes from the Chocolate Peanut Butter Madness Cake. And the frosting is my standard “throw together” vanilla that is very similar to this one from Glorious Treats. Top that with chocolate curls made with a block of chocolate and a vegetable peeler and you are good to go.
